42nd Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival

October 23-25

Gather round the square for a great autumn weekend of entertainment in downtown Dawsonville. There is something for everyone, from the Parade, Car Show, Cruise-In, Swap Meet, Silent Auction, live entertainment, an array of vendors, and festival food.

Best of all . . . proceeds from the festival go to KARE for Kids, Inc. “Making the World A Brighter Place, One Child at A Time.” The Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival—one of Georgia’s longest running and most unique festivals—is the primary fundraiser for the KARE for Kids organization, which assists needy children in Dawson County.

The festivities begin on Friday night, at the Cruise-In and Swap Meet held at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame where festival goes can enjoy an evening of classic rock and classic cars when Chappelle—a classic rock band—performs. Festival visitors can also meet many legendary racecar drivers, as well as see vintage racecars and authentic moonshine-hauling vehicles.

Then, at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, a bike tour leads the parade of moonshine and revenue cars through historic Dawsonville, reflecting the era of prohibition and moonshine runners that raced through Dawson County—one of the preeminent birthplaces of NASCAR and legendary racers like Lloyd Seay, Roy Hall, Raymond Parks, Gober Sosebee, and Dawsonville’s own Bill Elliott.

Saturday and Sunday will be filled with fun for the entire family with crafts, food, kid’s games, rides, entertainment and lots and lots of cars all beginning on the square in Dawsonville at 8:00 a.m.

Festival souvenirs such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, magnets and Legendary Race Car Drivers Calendars will also be available for purchase.
